Happy (and sick) Girl

I mentioned a couple of posts ago that we've been combating illness around here lately. Luckily, it hasn't been anything too intense, and we've also been able to keep it isolated to Luke and Audrey. It started a little over two weeks ago. Luke had a bit of a runny nose and just seemed more emotional and low energy. Then when he seemed to start to feel better, Audrey developed this hacking cough - the kind that sound dry and deep. Then it was accompanied by a runny nose and her cough started to sound more "productive" and things got decidedly more mucus-y. We were glad that the infection was on the move. We were also glad that she didn't have any other, more miserable symptoms (ie. vomiting, diarrhea, fever, etc.). She has really been able to maintain her fun, spunky attitude throughout.

A few days ago, after we'd had breakfast, I asked Audrey: "How are you? Do you feel sick?"

To which she replied, "Audgie's happy, Mom."

I couldn't help but smile. Then I said, "I'm glad you're happy."

And she just replied, "Yeah, Audgie's happy."

May it always be so.
